Column
While I was in England for the fall 2008 semester, I wrote a travel column for The Northern Light, the student-run campus newspaper at my home college, the University of Alaska Anchorage. While the blog entries posted here were never actually used in the column (and I’m sure any readers are quite glad of that, considering how much I ramble in my blogs), I generally gathered material from past entries for the biweekly articles. Links to my columns can be found here (other articles published in The Northern Light can be found on this page).
Dec. 2, 2008: Student returns with new perspective
Nov. 11, 2008: Rainy days in England still shed light on culture
Oct. 21, 2008: Norwich exhibits magic and mystery among the mundane
Oct. 7, 2008: Keep an open mind - studying abroad isn’t always exotic
Sept. 23, 2008: Studying abroad? Expect a bit of culture shock (arriving in England)
Sept. 9, 2008: Unfamiliar territory brings better education than classroom (Turkey)
I also had an article on Turkey and one giving an Alaskan’s perspective on Sarah Palin published in Concrete, the University of East Anglia’s student paper, as well as a brief piece on Turkey in a small magazine called Becoming a Woman of God. I can’t link to those, though, because they’re only available in print right now.
